Girl brutally gangraped near Habibganj Railway Station, Police was reluctant to register FIR
Bhopal: A 19-year-old girl, preparing for the UPSC exam, was gangraped by four men near the busy Habibganj railway station in the State capital on Tuesday.
According to available reports the victim, daughter of an RPF man was beaten up, tied and dragged near a drain and gangraped by four men. Three of them have been arrested while the fourth is absconding.
The victim was nabbed by one of the accused, identified as Golu Bihari Chadhar, when she was returning from her coaching classes. Golu, a habitual offender, was out on bail following his arrest on the charge of murdering his new-born daughter.
There was an altercation between the victim and Golu, who was soon joined by three more persons. The girl was beaten up, dragged near a ditch and gangraped.
The GRP men, when approached by the victim, mocked at her story. She ran from one police station to another to register an FIR.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken serious note of police apathy and the prevailing law and order situation.
SHO GRP Mohit Saxena, Maharana Pratap Nagar SP, SHO Habibganj Bhupendra and SHO Maharana Pratap Nagar Sanjay Singh have been suspended.
Postscript: What happenedat at Habibganj station is a telling commentary: The politicians have bent and twisted the entire structure of the police force to serve their own interests. What remains of the uniformed police force now is just a mangled heap. A large section of the cops, subordinated by petty political dictators, have become spineless cronies and are not accountable to the public. The result is total ‘अराजकता’ (lawlessness).
For this decay, the buck should stop at the highest political level.
