Reservation in Promotion case: MP Employees continue to suffer as case drags on in Supreme Court

New Delhi: As one of the judges constituting the Supreme Court Bench that was to hear the reservation in promotion case [Civil Appeal 5247/2016] and SLP (C) 13954/2016] arising due to an appeal by the Madhya Pradesh Government against the Jabalpur High Court order of 30 April 2016, declaring the State Government provision for Reservation in Promotion for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe officers and employees as unconstitutional, had proceeded on leave, the matter was not heard today (10 October 2017).

The Reservation in Promotion case, registered on 9 May 2016 and admitted on 12 May 2016, was listed for pre-hearing at 11.30 am by the Supreme Court Bench comprising Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph and Mrs Justice R. Banumathi. Since Justice Kurian proceeded on leave, the case remained unheard even today.
