Bhopal: The crusade against Madhya Pradesh Government’s discriminatory and unconstitutional provision for reservation in promotion for SCs and STs being led by SAPAKS (Samnya Pichda Alpsankhyak Adhikari Karmchari Sanstha) and SAPAKS Samaj Society will get an extra boost when State Additional Secretary Local Self Government and Environment Rajeev Sharma, IAS, will attend the special “Samanta Jagriti Divas” (Equality Awareness Day) event here on Sunday as patron of SAPAKS Society.

Former MLA Girijashankar Sharma will be the chief guest at Sunday’s function. EX-DGP Subhash Chandra Tripathi will be the guest of honour.

SAPAKS society of government officers and employees belonging to the general, backward and minority communities and SAPAKS Samaj society formed by the citizens are leading a massive movement across the state to end reservation in promotion. These organisations are also demanding the quota system should be rationalised. They are firm in their stand that reservation should be on economic basis and not on caste lines.

Not only majority of Madhya Pradesh Govenrment officers and employees but a vast section of the population is annoyed by the Stand taken by the State government after the Jabalpur High Court had declared the Madhya Pradesh provision for reservation in promotion for SCs and STs as unconstitutional. The Madhya Pradesh Government has challenged the High Court order in the Supreme Court of India and is paying a hefty fees to lawyers to fight the case in favour of the those belonging to the SCs and STs.
