Supreme Court sets aside triple talaq
New Delhi: The Supreme Court today passed a 3.2 verdict declaring as unconstitutional the Muslim practice of triple talaq.
Two judges – Justice Nariman and Justice Lalit declared the practice as unconstitutional, while Justice Joseph set it aside on ground that it is against the teachings of Quran.
The verdict in this case was reserved on May 18 by a five Judge Bench headed by Chief Justice J S Khehar. The hearing in the case began on 11 May 2017.
