Key additions to Trump Administration

Washington DC: The US President Donald J. Trump on Thursday announced Intent to nominate personnel to key administration posts

The following individuals have been nominated to key positions in the Trump Administration:

John R. Bass of New York to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Bass, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor, has served as an American diplomat since 1988. He is currently Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, a position he has held since 2014. He has spent much of the past decade supporting Federal Government efforts to mobilize allies and marshal resources to combat terrorism and instability in Iraq, Syria, and Southwest Asia.




Michael James Dodman of New York to be the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

Dodman, a career diplomate, is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor. Currently, he is Executive Assistant in the Office of the Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment at the Department of State. He has been Principal Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi, Pakistan; Economic Counselor at the U.S. Mission to the European Union; and Economic Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq.

C. J. Mahoney of Kansas to be Deputy United States Trade Representative, Investment, Services, Labor, Environment, Africa, China, and the Western Hemisphere, with the Rank of Ambassador. Mr. Mahoney is a partner at Williams & Connolly LLP where his practice focuses on international disputes and arbitration.



Michele Jeanne Sison of Maryland will be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Haiti. Ms. Sison, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Career Minister, has served as an American diplomat since 1982. She currently serves as Deputy Permanent Representative at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York, a position she has held since 2014.
