New Delhi: India’s Defence Minister Arun Jaitley today reacted strongly to the mutilation of the bodies of two Indian Army personnel by Pakistan by describing it as an act of barbarism and said that the armed forces will react to it appropriately.

Jaitley said “This is a reprehensible and an inhuman act. Such attacks do not take place during war.” The entire country has absolute faith in the armed forces, he said adding: “Bodies of soldiers being mutilated is an extreme form of barbaric act. The government of India strongly condemns this act.
In a separate incident, five police personnel and two bank officials of a cash van were killed by unidentified gunmen in south Kashmir district of Kulgam today. In a statement, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said the officials were on duty to disburse and collect cash at a local bank branch and their killing reflects the dangerous criminalisation taking place in society.
