Farooq Abdullah wins Srinagar by-poll, demands Governor’s Rule in J&K
Srinagar: National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah, who was declared elected today in the by-election for the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat, has demanded the dismissal of PDP-BJP government and sought Governor’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir
Abdullah described the election as the “bloodiest” that Jammu and Kashmir ever witnessed and lashed out at the Mehbooba Mufti led regime stating that it had completely failed to give security to the people so that they could cast their vote without fear and in harmony.
“As president of NC, I demand and I request the government of India and the President of India that this government should be dismissed right away so that the Governor’s Rule comes into play and people can have some peace.,” said the NC leader.
Talking to reporters at National Conference (NC) headquarters here, Abdullah said that nearly eight young people laid down their lives and many were injured during the election process. He demanded that the by-poll in Anantnag Parliamentary constituency in south Kashmir, that has been deferred till May 25, should be held under Governor’s rule.
Answering a query on Article 370, Abdullah said our stand has always been that the Article has to be restored to its 1953 status.
