Bhopal: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Madhya Pradesh Police has busted a gang operating a hawala racket and having links with Pakistan based handlers connected with the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
According to Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police Rishi Kumar Shukla, an 11-member gang was involved in transferring money on the directives of Pakistan-based handlers to secret agents involved in subversive activities.
The State DGP today told mediapersons that the gang was running a hawala racket via a parallel phone exchange that had been set up over the Internet.
The gang, it is alleged, was also engaged in passing sensitive information yo it’s ISI handlers in Pakustan.
ATS chief Sanjeev Shami informed media-persons that 5 persons have been taken into custody in Gwalior, 3 n Bhopal, 2 in Jabalpur and 1 in Satna.
