In West Bengal: Bhangar simmers after crossfire between villagers and outsiders

bhangarKolkata: The situation at Bhangar in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal today continued to remain tense today as one person was killed in crossfire between villagers outsiders yesterday.

According to available reports, while the State chief minister Mamata Banerjee met senior police officers earlier today to take stock of the situation at Bhangar, the local villagers cut down trees and piled up bricks to block any movement on roads. As word spread today that one more person had been killed in yesterday’s firing, the villagers went berserk. They torched a police outpost and vehicles.

The protesters were also demanding the chief minister’s presence at Bhangar.
