Main referral Hospital in Bhopal in a mess: Chouhan orders removal of ACS Medical Education
Bhopal: Confronted with a never-ending stream of complaints about the poor state of affairs and extreme filth and dirt in government hospitals, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today went into an overdrive mode and during a surprise inspection of Hamidia Hospital, the main referral hospital in the State capital expressed profound displeasure over the improper arrangements and issued directives that the Additional chief Secretary Medical Education Parabhanshu Kamal should hand over charge to the Principal Secretary Public Health, Gouri Singh.
The Chief MInister also ordered the removal of Dr. Ulka Shrivastava from the post of Dean Medical College and posting of Manish Rastogi as Commissioner medical Education. The chief minister expressed anger on seeing the filthy toilets and directed the officials to terminate the contract with the sanitation agency with immediate effect.
Chouhan was emphatic about the need for completely reforming the administrative arranegements in hospitals.He underscored the patients’ right when it comes to better facilities in government hospitals and instructed the Bhopal Divisional Commissioner and Collector to pay special attention to this aspect.
The chief minister aid that patients should be treated by experts and all arrangements must be made to ensure this.
The Chief Minister, who was on his way to the airport, decided to make a detour and made a surprise appearance at Hamidia Hospital where he talked to women standing in a queue for registration and were awaiting consultation at the out patient ward. He also inspected the free medicine distribution room and and took an on the spot assessment of the availability of medicines. The Chief Minister also inspected the emergency ward toilet and directed the official to terminate the sanitation contract.
