Bhopal jail break: “SIMI terrorists” gunned down
Bhopal: Eight terrorists belonging to the banned organisation SIMI , who had fled from Bhopal jail last night around 2 am have been gunned down in an encounter, aaccording to an official version here.
Four jail officers, Including the jail Superintendent have been suspended.
The encounter took place between 11 and 11.30 am at Manikhera Pathar near Acharpura village in the Eintkhedi area, about 12 kns from Bhopal jail, Bhopal IG of police told media persons.
The terror suspects had outside support and this is obvious as they opened fire when encircled by the ATS. The encounter lasted about 30 minutes, it has been conveyed officially.
One police officer has been injured in the encounter.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan later said he has taken this incident very seriously. ADG Jail has been attached to the PHQ. DIG jail, SP and Additional SP Jail have been suspended.
The CM told media persons that he has talked to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and it has been decided that NIA will investigate this incident to probe terror links not only in MP but also in other parts of the country and abroad. A separate probe will also be conducted by former DGP Nandan Dube.
Chouhan congratulated the police for its success in neutralising the terrorists. He also expressed gratitude towards the people saying without their help police would not have got the lead against the terrorists on the run.
