Bhopal: BP Singh, a 1984 batch IAS officer, has been appointed the new Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh. He will replace Anthony J C Desa, who is retiring this month
Singh was till recently Additional Chief Secretary Home before he was posted as Officer on Special Duty as a prelude to his elevation as Chief Secretary. He has also held the posts of Principal Secretary Higher Education, Forest and Rehabilitation Commissioner in the State.
Singh has held the post of Managing Director Export Corporation and Managing Director Seeds Corporation in Madhya Pradesh -his parent cadre.
Singh, when he was earlier on deputation to the Centre, has served as Joint Secretary in Ministry of Textiles (19 January 2005 to 31 March 2006). Prior to that, he was Additional Development Commissioner in the same ministry (15 February 2001 to 19 January 2005).
Singh is the senior-most IAS officer of the 1984 batch borne on the Madhya Pradesh cadre.
