Srinagar: Security forces today were engaged in a search operation and there was a prolonged gun battle with terrorists holed up in a government building at Pampore that had caught fire due to firing from both sides.
The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) at Pampore was the target of a terrorist attack and there was heavy exchange of fire since this morning. This is the second time this year that the terrorists have attacked the same building, which is not far from the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
All traffic on the highway was being diverted through Somarbugh and other alternative routes, as a preccautionary measure.
After the September 18 Uri attack, the terrorists have launched a number of attacks in the Kashmir valley. There was an attack at Baramula on 2 October, another at Handwara four days later and the latest is at Pampore today.
