Four terrorists belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), the Pakistan based terrorist outfit, were also killed in the encounter.
After the Uri attack, some militants stormed into the house of a ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and snatched four weapons from his guards at Anantnag – South Kashmir.
In a statement, John Kirby, the US Assistant Secretary and Spokesperson of Bureau of Public Affairs said “the United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack on an Indian army base in Kashmir during the early morning of September 18. We extend our condolences to the victims and their families. The United States is committed to our strong partnership with the Indian government to combat terrorism.”
The UK has also condemned the Uri attack and expressed its full solidarity with India in fighting terrorism.
