New Delhi: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested three most wanted fugitives – Garuav Sethi @ Golu @ Monu (35), who has produced two Punjabi films, along with his two brothers Vikram Sethi @ Mohan (36) and Manish Sethi @ Minkoo (40) from Mumbai.
Gaurav Sethi was declared a Proclaimed Offender in two cases and a reward of Rs 25000 had been declared on the arrest of the three fugitives. Gaurav Sethi had produced two Punjabi films in 2008 and 2011.
INCIDENT
In 2014, the Lodhi Colony Police Station had arrested Gaurav Sethi in a fraud and cheating case. On 31 July that year, he was produced in the Court and was remanded to judicial custody. Constable Hawa Singh of Lodhi Colony Police Station was escorting him to Tihar Jail in a TSR. When they reached near DDA Market Jail Road to take food for accused Gaurav Sethi, his brothers Vikram Sethi and Manish Sethi reached there and urged Hawa Singh to allow them to get the signature of Gaurav Sethi on the “vakalatnama”. Taking opportunity of this, Gaurav Sethi pushed the police constable and all the three fled from the spot in two cars a Verna and an Audi.
Following this incident, a case under appropriate sections was registered at Hari Nagar Police Station but the three could not be arrested as they kept changing their location and identity.
After several months of dedicated efforts to track the accused, head constable Satender and Constable Sandeep Dabas got specific information that Gaurav Sethi and his brothers were living in Mumbai under fake identity. Immediately, a team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Sanjay Sehrawat, and comprising of Inspector P.C Khanduri, Sub Inspectors Data Ram, Rajbir Singh and assistant sub-Inspector Yudhvir Singh, Head constables Satender, Bijender, Dinesh Kumar, Virender, Hanuman, Ravinder, and constables Sandeep Dabas and Saurabh Saini was constituted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Bhisham Singh and under overall guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police K.K Vyas. Acting on a tipoff, the team arrested the accused persons from Mumbai where they were residing with their families under fictitious identity.

Gaurav Sethi was born and brought up in Karol Bagh in Delhi. His father was in timber business. He studied up to 12th class from Harcourt Butler School. He took admission in Khalsa College but dropped out after Ist year. Thereafter, he did some odd works and in 2001, he worked with Standard Chartered Bank in the Verification Department.
In 2003 he opened an office in Rohini Delhi in the name of ‘GS Builder’. He would assist the clients in getting loans from various banks such as Dena Bank, PNB, Bank Of Maharastra. Later, he used to prepare forged documents and take loan on bogus properties. He used to take handsome commission and bought several properties.
When many cases were registered against him in different Police Stations, he went underground. In 2014, he was arrested by the Lodhi Colony police station when he fled from police custody while being taken to Tihar Jail.
After his escape, they went to Chandigarh and from there, came to Mumbai along with his brothers where they were living under fictitious identity and with the money he had taken with him from Delhi, he again got engaged in finance business by providing loans on higher rate of interest.
Earlier he was running casinos in Mariott, Panaji (Goa), Colombo (Sri Lanka) and Nepal. Later, he developed craze for Bollywood, fame and rich lifestyle.
In 2008, he produced a Punjabi film ‘Watno-Dur’, which was filmed in Mauritius starring famous Punjabi actors. It was released all over India. Gurusewak Mann, Deep Dhillon, Upasana Singh, Raza Murad have acted in this film, and Hansraj Hans was the playback singer.
In 2011, he produced another Punjabi film ‘Baba Bulleshah’, in which Ustad Tafu Khan of Lahore in Pakistan was the music composer-director. He is a very famous Tabla Player. This film could not be released due to some problems with the distributor.
Gaurav’s brother Manish has also studied upto 12 class from Harcourt Butler School and completed his graduation from Zakir Hussain College. He also enrolled himself in the MBA Distant Leaning course from a private institute. In 2001, he started a tours and travel company in the name “Khushbee Tours & Travel” in Rohini. But after suffering losses, he closed thisbusiness and took up jobs with a few private companies. In 2013, he entered into the construction business and started a firm by the name “Shree Chakradhar Builders”. In 2014, when his brother Gaurav was arrested, he helped in his escape from police custody. At present he was also living in Mumbai with his family and was doing property business
Their brother Vikram Sethi studied upto 10th standard at Harcourt Butler School in Delhi. He dropped out of school due to family problems and started helping his brother Manish in his Travel and Construction business. In 2014, when his brother Gaurav Sethi was arrested he also joined in helping in his escape from police custody. He too was living in Mumbai with his family and was engaged in finance business.
