New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been honoured with Policy Leadership Award by Indian Council of Food and Agriculture (ICFA).

The Policy Leadership Award was received by Madhya Pradesh Minister for Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Gourishankar Bisen on behalf of the Chief Minister at yje 9th Global Leadership Award programme organized by ICFA
Governors of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh Kaptan Singh Solanki and Ram Naik presented the award at am impressive ceremony. Deputy Speaker of Rajya Sabha P.J.Kurian, and Chairman of ICFA Dr. MJ Khan.
Madhya Pradesh has achieved a remarkable success in last ten years in agriculture sector. It registered 24.94 per cent growth in the agriculture and allied sectors during the year 2014-15. This is the highest growth rate recorded so far in the world. In the year 2004-05, total food grain production in the State was 1.43 crore metric tonnes, which increased up to 3.21 crore metric tonnes in 2014-15.
Twelve percent annual growth in agriculture sector by the state is a record in itself. The production of pulses in the State was 33.51 lakh metric tonne in 2004-05 and it rose to 47.63 lakh metric tonne in the year 2014-15. It is 42.14 per cent increase registered in the decade. This comes to 28 per cent of total production of pulses in the country. Availability of food grain per person in the State is now 61 gram per person per day. The agriculture area has also increased by 34 lakh hectare and now the total area under agriculture is 2.23 crore hectare.
