Delhi Police trace child kidnapped ten years ago, culprits arrested

child abduction Delhi Police has cracked a ten year-old infant kidnap case by tracing out and returning to the parents a child who was abducted from Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital in the capital in 2007.

The child lifters, Mohammad Samin and his wife Nargis, who were posing as biological parents of the abducted child, have been arrested and a case under Section 368 IPC has been registered against them at the Krishna Nagar Police station in the capital. The Police is investigating whether or not this couple is engaged in more child lifting incidents and human trafficking.

The Delhi Police swung into action after it was reported that the kidnapped child had been seen by someone in the Krishna Nagar Police station area. Separate police teams were formed and local intelligence gathered. The Police received inputs that a couple staying in a rented accomodation in Lane 1 of Shanti Mohalla in the Old Jehangipuri area with a a 10 year old child had recently vacated their house. The police zeroed in on the schools located in close vicinity and a search was launched for the missing child. The father of the victim also joined the search operation. After some efforts, a child resembling the description of the kidnapped child was traced to MCD school at Old Seelampur. When the “parents” of this child were located and interrogated, they initially stated that they were the biological parents. However enquiries by the Police in the neighborhood revealed that the child was brought there suddenly a few years ago and the couple that has now been arrested by the Police had told the neighbors that the delivery had taken place earlier at their ancestral village and the baby had remained with his grand parents. During sustained interrogation the couple broke down and confessed that they they had kidnapped the child from Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital in November 2007.
