Working for country’s development is the best homage to the martyrs of Independence: Shivraj Singh Chouhan
Recollecting the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, the Chief Minister asked the the people to take a pledge for the all-round development of the country. This would be the best and true homage to the martyrs. Chouhan was speaking on the eve of the Independence Day at Iqbal Maidan in the State capital today.
Chouhan said that we got Independence with great hardships and sacrifices and for this many freedom fighters laid down their lives. To remember them is the prime duty of every citizen. He said that on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a “Tiranga Yatra” (tricolopur journey/march) is being taken out across the country. He urged the people to become a part of this Yatra.
The Chief Minister paid floral tribute to the martyrs to honour the freedom fighters. He joined the candle light “azadi” (freedom) march from Iqbal Maidan to Ravindra Bhavan on this occasion. Along with a number of Freedom fighters, many senior politicians, public representatives, bureaucrats, sportspersons, teachers, students and prominent citizens participated were part of this event.
On reaching Ravindra Bhavan, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes to Ravindra Nath Tagore. He also witnessed the exhibition organized by the Swaraj Sansthan to mark the occasion.
