New Delhi: The staff of AATS/ West District Delhi POlice has arrested a notorious inter-state Auto-Lifter Robin @ Rahul, a resident of Hisar in Haryana and at present residing at Surya Apartment at Devli village in Delhi.
The arrested person was folliwing a unique modus operandi for stealing cars. He was hugely inspired by the infamous notorious car thief Bunty popularly called
Bunty Chor. He had watched the movie “Oye Lucky Oye” several times based on the life of Bunty Chor and had started imitating his method. He even used to venerate Bunty Chor and kept his picture all the time with him. He was stealing only costly cars like Audi, BMW, Fortuner, Mercedes, and Skoda and was targeting posh colonies. After the house owners were going for their morning walk, he used to enter their homes in the early morning hours and picking up their car keys used to drive away in the stolen vehicles.
Robin was carrying out his stealing opeartion in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh and Punjab. He was arrested by Crime Branch of Delhi Police in January this year and was ut on bail since last May. He had formed a gang with the help of Ravi Gangwar, Rohit Singhal and Rahul Singhal. They had met in Tihar Jail. Ravi Gangwal is a notorious criminal of South District in Delhi, where he is involved in a gang war.
Robin was behind the theft of about 6 luxury cars from Noida in Uttar Pradesh, Karnal, Gurgaon and Panchkula in Haryana. One BMW and one Toyota Fortuner cars (Approximately worth Rs. 70Lakhs) have been recovered from his possession. The theft of a BMW car from Noida on 15 July was captured on CCTV.
