Guwahati: Sarbananda Sonowal today became the 14th chief minister of Assam. He leads the first BJP led Government in the North-East, which includes representatives of the ruling alliance partners the AGP and Bodo Peoples Front (BPF).

Sonowal and his Cabinet colleagues were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya at a public function at Khanapara here.

Present at the oath-taking ceremony were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah, senior BJP leader L K Advani, party chief ministers and leaders of NDA allies.
