Chennai: AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa was sworn in as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for the record sixth term by Governor K. Rosaiah at an impressive and well attended ceremony held as the Madras University’s Centenary Hall today.
Twenty-eight members of the Jayalalithaa Cabinet were also administered the oath of office and secrecy.
Ms. Jayalalithaa began her new inning as chief minister by signing an order which shrinks the timing of the State administered liquor outlets. Instead of 10 in the morning these shops will now start business at 12 noon and drop shutters at sharp 10 pm.
The Chief Minister did not waste any time and on day-one signed another order to fulfill her electoral promise of 100 units of free electricity supply to every household.
