No end to infiltration from Pakistan, zero incursion by Chinese troops into Indian territory: Manohar Parrikar
New Delhi: There has been a sharp rise in successful cases of infiltration by terrorists along the India-Pakistan border this year.
This is explicit from the fact that against 33 cases of successful infiltration and 118 infiltration attempts in 2015, the security establishment in India has recorded in the first three months of 2016, 18 cases of successful infiltration.
Details of infiltration by terrorists in J&K are as under:
|Year||Attempted Infiltration||Successful Infiltration
(upto 31st March)
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar gave this information in a written reply to Sushmita Dev and others in Lok Sabha today. He told the House that issues relating to abetting infiltration along India-Pakistan border are taken up with Pakistan military authorities at the appropriate level through the established mechanism of Flag Meetings and weekly talks between the Directorate Generals of Military Operations of both the countries.
Government is fully seized of the security needs of the country, Parrikar said adding necessary steps are taken to ensure that the national security concerns are adequately addressed through capability and infrastructural development.
The Defence Minister also told Parliament that there have been no instances of incursions by Chinese troops into Indian territory. He further said the Government takes up any transgression along LAC with the Chinese.
Regarding construction activities in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), the defence Minister said that the Government has seen such reports and has conveyed its concerns to China about their activities and asked them to cease such activities.
