Rumour again disrupts normal life in Kashmir: Police uses force to control protesting mob

batamalooSrinagar: Police used force and fired several rounds of tear gas shells today to control a mob of protesters in the Batamaloo area here after there was a rumour that a person had died in a scuffle with a police officer.

The official version as narrated to the media is that a sub-inspector of police was involved in heated argument with a Batamaloo resident. This turned into a physical brawl. While the police officer received head injuries the other person fainted during the scuffle. Both of them were immediately rushed to the police hospital. Later the civilian was referred to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital where his condition has been declared as stable.

According to police sources, when the injured person was being rushed to hospital, some miscreants had spread the rumour that a local resident had died in a scuffle with a police officer.
