Mehbooba Mufti becomes first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu/Srinagar: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has been sworn as the first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. She will be heading a coalition government with Bharatiya Janata Party in Jammu and Kashmir – the only Muslim-majority state in India that continues to remain a target of cross-border terrorism
Daughter of PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mahbooba Mufti (56), was sworn-in at a special ceremony at Raj Bhawan at 11.00 AM. She is the first woman to head a government in Jammu and Kashmir
J&K Governor N N Vohra yesterday invited the Mehbooba Mufti to form and lead the PDP-BJP coalition government.
The Congress party boycotted the swearing-in ceremony.
