New Delhi: National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer Tanzil Ahmed has been shot dead by motorcycle borne assailants at Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, the NIA officer was shot dead when he was returning from a wedding ceremony in his car. His wife Farzana has been injured in the attack. She has been shifted to Fortis hospital in Noida. Two children, who were also in the car, escaped unhurt.

An NIA DIG is rushing to Bijnor, an official source said. It is learnt that the slain NIA officer was assisting in the investigation into the attack on the Pathankot Air Force base in January this year.
