Police arrests bus robbers in Delhi

delhi police4New Delhi: Sleuths of the Rajouri Garden Police station and West District P6lice in Delhi have arrested notorious bus robber Victor James and five members of his gang.

The Victor James gang was wanted in 12 cases of robbery. They were infamous for their ruthless modus operandi. They were known to attack their pret with knife and sharp edged weapons when the victims resisted them.

Victor James, alias Vicky, (44), resident of Mangol Puri here was involved in 15 cases including cases like chain snatching, theft and a number of crimes committed under the Arms Act These cases are registered at Police Stations Vikas Puri, Subhash Place, Rajouri Garden,Nihal Vihar, Mangol Puri, Tilak Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Janak Puri, Sultan Puriand Paschim Vihar.

The Police have also arrested:

Ishtiyaq (27), also a resident of Mangol Puri. He has been involved in a case of robbery under the Maya Puri POlice station.

Samim (40), resident of Sultanpuri. He was wanted in 3 previous cases of theft and under the Arms Act registered at Sultan Puri and Paschim Vihar Police stations,

Sumit (26), resident of Sultanpuri,

Raj Kumar, alias Raju, and Laxman (29), both from Shakur Pur,

In order to have effective checks on the criminals, especially those involved in bus robbery, effective strategy was formulated by tghe Police to track down and nab the active bus looters.

To cope up with the crime, a special team of police station Rajouri Garden, under the supervision of Inspector Rakesh Tyagi- SHO Rajouri Garden and overall supervision of Suresh Kaushik, ACP Rajouri Garden and comprising of PSI Suresh Kumar, head constables Sanjay and Bhupender and constables Jasbir, Ravinder, and Satender was constituted and deployed for intensive Bus Checking at Ring Road, in front of the ESI Hospital.

The team spotted two Three-wheeler scooter auto rickshaws (TSRs) with registration No. DL-1R M 7492 and DL – 1R F9101  chasing a bus. The police sleuths stopped the TSRs and checked the occupants. Once their identity was revealed, the police recovered from them two button actuated knives, 3 mobile phones, and 2 laptops that were found to be stolen. The Police have registered 2 FIRs against them under sections 25/54/59 Arms Act and 103 Delhi Police Act.

During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed that they used to operate from Punjabi Bagh flyover to Maya Puri in TSRs. They used to chase their targets from Punjabi Bagh flyover and when the bus stopped at a regular stop, they used to rob the passengers of their bags,mobile phones, Purses, Laptops and other valuables. If anyone resisted they used to stab their victim with a Knife.
