US condemns Baghdad bomb attacks
There was one blast at the mosque and another when security personnel arrived on the scene. The twin blasts were triggered by suicide bombers.
The United States was among the first countries to condemn in the strongest terms the bomb attacks claimed by Da’esh on the innocent worshippers at the mosque as well as subsequent attacks on first responders.
In a statement, the US has conveyed deepest sympathies to all those affected by this senseless violence.
The sratement said:
“We stand with the people of Iraq, and we will continue to support all Iraqi citizens — from all parts of the country — as they work to root out violent extremists and promote the reconciliation needed for a diverse and unified country, as envisioned in the Iraqi Constitution.”
The United States has reiterated that it remains steadfast in its commitment to partner with the Government of Iraq and to support Coalition efforts to degrade and defeat this terrorist group.
