Anti-national rally on JNU campus

Lalit Shastri

The culprits and their advocates and apologists, like the New York Times (India’s Crackdown on Dissent, What Passes for Sedition in India), politicians of different hues, including the Leftists, many journalists, small but vocal section of the intelligentsia, and a coalition of rag-tag opportunists have seemingly ganged up to politicize what is an anti-national act. They are repeatedly claiming that any action against the anti-national elements is an attempt by the Hindu zealots and the champions of Hindu nationalism to crush dissent.

Crime against the nation

It is anti-national when students in JNU hold a well planned rally to commemorate and glorify a terrorist hanged by a Supreme Court order. It is an anti-national act and a crime against the nation when slogans are raised by them to destroy India. it is also an anti-national act and a crime against the nation when the crowd of students chant slogans of Azadi by joining hands with the Kashmiri separatists and secessionist groups that have continuously remained hand in glove with handlers in Pakistan and the infiltrators and terrorists, who are waging a war against India. Student leaders who were not only present but had actively participated and addressed the event in question in JNU should not be pardoned or let loose.

It is an open and shut case, as opposed to national interest or nationalism, their is an anti-national political agenda since they are openly supporting the terrorists, the Maoists and those challenging the sovereignty and integrity of India- all of whom have this in common: they advocate and use violence to meet their objective of destroying India.

People who love their country and are law-abiding citizens do not see any religious angle in this crime committed against the nation by so many JNU students.

I do not hold any brief for the Modi government nor am I a BJP sympathiser but it is plain to me that there is an orchestrated attempt by many to obfuscate the whole issue by repeatedly asserting that the ruling BJP, and their goons are trying to crush the peoples’ right to expression and free speech.

The culprits and their advocates and apologists, like the New York Times (India’s Crackdown on Dissent, What Passes for Sedition in India), politicians of different hues, including the Leftists, many journalists, small but vocal sections of the intelligentsia, and a coalition of rag-tag opportunists have seemingly ganged up to politicize what is an anti-national act. They are repeatedly claiming that any action against the anti-national elements is an attempt by the Hindu zealots and the champions of Hindu nationalism to crush dissent.

Those who are rational and liberal to the core who don’t see anything religious in this grave issue will never buy the rotten defence. If we allow the culprits of JNU or those from Jadavpur University who have committed a grave crime against the nation to go scot free, the secessionist forces and the Maoists will have a free run and consequently, the security and integrity of the nation would be jeopardized.

POSTSCRIPT: The so-called historians, scholars, and social scientists, who carry the Indian passport but miss no oppprtunity to run down India, are invited regularly by the top US universities and all kinds of organisations abroad to weave a false and crooked narrative and spew venom against their own country. They fly business class, receive fabulous sums as honorarium or for their NGOs. Their image is built very methodically and these persons are projected as larger than life by honoring them with awards and by giving them a million dollar publicity in return for the dubious role they play vis-a-vis India, both on foreign soil and in their own country.
