Bhopal: At a crucial meeting between Union Steel Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shisvraj Singh Chouhan here this weekend, instructions were issued to complete on priority the projects that have been taken up after signining MoUs with Public sector undertakings under the Union Mines and Steel Ministry.
At this meeting Mr. Tomar told the state government that it could send proposals to the Centre for expanding the mining area of different mines.
It was also disclosed on this occasion that Steel Authority of India is planning to establish a steel plant in Chhatarpur district. It will provide employment to about 5000 persons. Similarly, Manganese Ore India Limited (MOIL Limited), a miniratna Government-owned manganese-ore mining company headquartered in Nagpur, is planning to establish a plant in Balaghat district. NMDC also has projects for mining exploration in Tikamgarh and Panna district. Hindustan Copper Limited is working on underground mining in Balaghat district. NALCO has proposed to set up alumina refinery in the state.
Chief Secretary Anthony de Sa, Principal Secretary to CM Iqbal Singh Bains, Commissioner Minerals Ajatshatru, in-charge Secretary Mining Anupam Rajan and Personal Secretary to Union Mines and Steel Minister Nikunj Shrivastava attended the meeting.
