Armed assailants make away with 91 Lakhs outside a bank in UP
Bijnore : In what appeared to be a scene just out from a freshly brewed movie flick, the Bijnore nationalized bank saw a play-out of loot scene just outside the bank premises. Taking a sum of 91 Lakhs in cash, a driver and a guard walked out of the bank and were on their way towards the vehicle parked bang outside the bank. Suddenly, they were taken by shock as the guard was fired at, and the driver too received bullet hit screeching through his body. Before the duo could take understanding of what hit them, the booty of 91 Lakhs slipped away (Read snatched) from their hands and they realized that they just got robbed !
A sum of Rs 91 lakh was looted Monday evening from outside the branch of a nationalized bank at Bijnore by armed assailants who shot at the guard and the driver of the cash van. According to police, the incident occurred at around 6:30 PM outside the bank branch located at Dhampur on the Kalagarh road.
While the driver Sumit and guard Dayaram stepped out of the branch bearing the cash, they were accosted by unidentified assailants who fired at them, leaving them injured, before making off with the money. Police said that the assailants, wearing face masks, moved with agility and sped away on motorbikes.
The injured duo were rushed to a hospital in Meerut and administered immediate medical assistance. Police informed that searches have been launched in the area to nab the culprits.
