PM Modi meets President Putin and discusses India-Russia ties
Russia : Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Russia and was welcomed to a grand red-carpet reception at the airport. This event was followed by a private dinner hosted for the Indian PM by his Russian counterpart President Vladimir Putin. PM Modi met President Putin and discussed about the India-Russia ties, during his two-day tour to Russia on the backdrop of annual India-Russia summit talks. The agenda of talks would be centered around issues related to signing of big defence deals, expanding economic ties and talks on terrorism.
PM Modi met President Putin and had a discussion with him, which he personally conveyed in a tweet, which stated — Met President Putin and discussed India-Russia ties. The meeting was fruitful.
A cold and wet weather which filled the Russian skies while PM Modi arrived at the Russian soil did not dampen the spirits of the visit, as PM Modi was accorded a red-carpet reception at the Moscow airport. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated in his tweet — Cold and rain are no obstacles for a red carpet welcome.
Building up on economic engagement and strengthening of strategic ties would be the focus point of Modi-Putin bilaterals during PM’s Moscow visit for 16th India-Russia annual summit talks to be held today. It is expected that a number of deals in defence and nuclear energy sectors would also take some final shape during this summit. PM Modi and President Putin are also expected to discuss the situation in Syria and ways to tackle terrorism.
