BJP concedes defeat in Bihar
Nitish-:Lalu alliance registers sweeping victory
Big comeback for Lalu
Patna: Shortly after 10 am this morning the picture was clear that the grand alliance led by Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav, with Congress as a fringe partner, had established a clear lead and by 10.45 am the JDU had either won or was leading in 159 of the 243 constituencies in Bihar and the BJP was trailing behind with 74.
Once the results get announced, Nitish Kumar would be establishing a hat trick of three consecutive victories – a first time by any leader in Bihar.
The Bihar results should come as a body blow to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who addressed about 3 dozen election rallies across Bihar. It is obvious that the voters have come forward and voted against the communal discourse and moves to polarise the Hindu voters and divide society on communal lines. The verdict should also be also viewed as a backlash against price rise and attempts to prop up the beef card coinciding with the Bihar elections.
