New Delhi: In a 2-set match of World Badminton Championship played between the two top seeds at Jakarta, Indian ace Shuttler Saina Nehwal won 2nd place in the final played against No1 player Carolina Marin Martin of Spain.
Marine defended her championship title by playing well in the first set and also clinching two straight sets back to back with a winning score sheet of 21-16 and 21-19.
Saina however adds to the History book of Indian Badminton by registering her name as being the first Indian shuttler to have ever reached the final on the World Badminton Championship till date. Sania defeated Indonesia’s Lindaweni Fanetria in the semifinals and paved her way to the top fight. She played the ginsl mstch with an initial lead in both final sets but gave in to Carolina’s game techniques and smash hits. Saina gave Marin continuous point gain by playing long and risking her score card.
