Modi Government will now push for a diluted Land Acquistion Bill
New Delhi: Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre has opted for a major climb-down on the Land Acquisition Bill and efforts are now on to ensure the passage of a much diluted Bill at the fag end of the ongoing monsoon session of Lok Sabha.
There are indications that the Government is ready to drop key amendments in the land Acquisition Bill.
In the meanwhile a meeting ground on the vexed Land Acquisition issue was being sought to be created by certain opposition parties, including Trinamool Congress, Biju Janata Dal, Nationalist Congress Party and Samajwadi Party. Their managers were engaged in close door maneuvres yesterday to build pressure on Lok sabha Speaker sumitra mahajn to revoke the suspendion of 25 Congress MPs. A positive response to this by the Speaker will pave the pave for the passage of the diluted Land Acquisition Bill it was beingpointed out by some Opposition MPs.
On Tuesday, the zero hour in Lok Sabha was marked by a boycott by Congress and other leading Opposition parties.
