Supreme Court of IndiaNew Delhi: The Supreme Court of India today ordered the transfer of the Vyapam scam case and investigations into the deaths linked with this case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The apex court order came in response to a petition by Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh and a few whistle blowers who were raising this matter for a long time.

The Supreme Court has been critical of the Jabalpur High Court as it had deferred a decision in this regard two days ago. The Supreme Court today observed – “Instead of taking a decision, the High Court washed its hands off and put the ball in our court.”

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Suresh Pachouri expressed his gratitude over the Supreme Court order and demanded resignation from State Governor Ram Naresh Yadav and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on moral grounds.

Addressing a press conference at the state Congress headquarters here, Pachouri said that the massive Vyapam scam, which has played havoc with the lives of countless youth, took place during Chouhan’s tenure. Hence he should quit office.
