New Delhi: A case was registered by a complainant in connection with 2 lakhs bribe amount. It was alleged that the Commissioner of Customs, Jaipur in Rajasthan had demanded a bribe of Rs.2 lakhs through three persons, namely – the Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Jaipur, the then Superintendent of Customs, Jaipur and a private person. This bribe amount was in lieu of releasing seized imported goods of the Complainant placed at Inland Container Depot (ICD), Jaipur.
Two persons were caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe from the Complainant on behalf of public servants.
Searches were conducted at residential premises of Commissioner of Customs and Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Jaipur which led to recovery of certain documents of properties.
The arrested persons were produced before the Designated Court at Jaipur and remanded to four days police custody.
