New Delhi: Sleuths of AATS/SWD of Delhi Police have succeeded in nabbing the most wanted and dreaded gangster Vikas Gulia, alias Vikas Lagarpuria (25), of Lagarpur village under Sadar Bahadurgarh Police station of Jhajjar district in Haryana.

Vikas Lagarpuria has been a Kingpin operating his own gang, which along with him is involved in several crimes like murder, attempt to murder, robbery, and extortion. He has many sharp shooters in his gang and they carry sophisticated automatic weapons.

Vikas has been operating his gang in Delhi and Haryana along with other dreaded criminals like Dheerpal Kana, Dheerpal Reduwas, and Mahender who are presently lodged in Bhondsi Jail at Gurgaon in Haryana. Such was his terror that not only the public but also the rival gangs being run by Manjeet Mahal, Naveen Khati,and Vicky Dagar were afraid of him.

Vikas is a college dropout. He was a student of BA at Ramlal Anand College under Delhi University. He left studies when he weas in the 2nd year in 2009 after he became a friend of another criminal Dheerpal Kana of Jatkheri village in Jhajhar district and started committing petty crimes. Over a period of time he started committing heinous crimes along with his associates Dheerpal Kana, Dhara Singh, alias Dharey, Dheerpal Reduwas, Mahender, Ravi Jatkheri, Kavit and others. The desire for supremacy triggered the rivalry between Vikas and his assciated and the gang of Manjeet Mahal of Village Mitraon in Delhi.

In April 2012, Vikas along with Dheerpal Reduwas & Mahender murdered Tinku of Hasanpur village in Delhi and a week later they also murdered Gapchu Phelwan of Mandothi village in Haryana as both of them were linked with the gang of Manjeet Mahal. They also made a futile attempt to pin down Manjeet Mahal and Ravinder, alias Bholu, both from Mitraon village in Delhi.

Due to the murders committed, the gang led by Vikas and Dheerpal, alias Kana, gained notoriety and established its supremacy in the area. As Manjeet Mahal had rivalry with another gangster Krishan Phelwan of Dichau Kalan in Delhi, he went on the defensive for some time. During this period Vikas and his associates committed a series of crimes inlcuding murder, attempt to murder, robbery, carjacking, and extortion.

In July 2012 Vikas, Ravi Katiya, Dheerpal Reduwas, and Dhara Singh were arrested. In Nov 2013 Vikas got bail but his associates are still lodged in Bhondsi Jail. After coming out of jail, Vikas built his own gang by deploying new faces like Vikas, alias PK, Pawan Gulia, Kavit, Yashbir, Ravi, alias Katiya, Joginder, alias Leela, Vineet Kumar, alias Jhony, and Monu.

Pawan Gulia, Vineet Kumar, Monu and sharpshooter Vikas, alias PK were earlier arrested by the sleuths of AATS/SWD.

On 13 April Vikas, along with his associates Chand, alias Monu, and Joginder attacked the cousin and friend of Narender and demanded extortion money from him. Hence a Case (FIR No.227/150 was registered against him on 13 April 2015 U/s 323/387/452/34 IPC at Police station Baba Haridass Nagar in Delhi. The same day there was a firing incident at Aggarwal Sweets at Deenpur in Najafgarh area of Delhi. The complainant in this case, Sanjay Kumar, alleged that he had received calls for extortion from a dreaded criminal who was demanding Rs. 2.5 million as protection money. As he refused to pay this amount, the duo came on a motorcycle in the evening and fired two rounds and fled. After this incident, Case (FIR No.212/15) was registered on 13 April 2015 U/s 307/34 IPC &25/27/54/59 Arms Act at Police station Chawala in Delhi.

A team of AATS/South-West Delhi under the supervision of B. S. Dhaiya, ACP Operation and under the leadership of Inspector Raj Kumar, AATS/SWD and comprising of SIs Manoj Bhatia and Naresh, ASI Jai Parkash, HCs Rajesh Dhankar, Vinod Kumar, Vijay Singh, Jitender, Constables Anil Kumar, Rohitash, Jagat and Vikas Kumar was constituted to crack this case. Technological penetration and asecret information network led to the arrest of Vikas, who kept dodging the police by rapidly changing his hideout in states like Uttrakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana. On 27 June, an informer told the police that Vikas will come near Gate No. 2 of Janta Flats in, Sector-16 -B at Dwarka in New Delhi at about 7.30 PM to meet omne of his associates. After this, a trap was laid. At 07.45 pm, Vikas was stopped by the police when he landed there. Finding himself cornered, Vikas made an attempt to escape by whipping out a loaded pistol and aimed it at the police party. SI Manoj Bhatia and Ct. Anil, risking their lives, moved swiftly and overpowered him before he could open fire. y he wouldeven murder them. However before his sinisterplan could be executed he has been arrested by AATS/South-West and the gang hasbeen busted.
