One arrested from Bangalore for uploading “rape videos” on social networking sites
New Delhi: On Supreme Court orders the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) recently took over a case originally registered at the Kotwali Police station in Sitapur district of Uttra Pradesh and after zooming on a person in Bangalore arrested him last week on the charge of uploading rape videos on different social networking sites.
The CBI had registered a case under section 34 read with 292, 294, 342, 354, 354-A, 354-C, 355, 357, 363, 366, 367, 376, 376-D, 506 & 509 of IPC and Section 66-E, 67 and 67-A of Information Technology Act, 2000 on the directions of the Apex Court of India and taken up for further investigation of Case (FIR No.323 of 2014 at Kotwali Police station in Sitapur district of UP.
During the course of CBI investigation, sophisticated cyber forensics software and interface with various Internet Service Providers was used to ascertain the identity of the person or perons who had uploaded the rape videos on the Net. The CBI could trace to Bangalore the IP address of the person who had uploaded three such alleged rape clips. Search was conducted at the residential premises of the alleged uploader and digital evidence exhibits used in uploading the video clips on the Internet was recovered from his possession.
