CBI arrests Cantonment Board Ward member for accepting bribe
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Ward Member (Ward No-2) of the Fatehgarh Cantonment Board in Farukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.2,00,000 from a contractor.
CBI has registered a case under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegations that the Ward Member of Fatehgarh Cantonment Board demanded a bribe of Rs. 2,16,000 on behalf of the Chief Executing Officer of the Cantonment Board, eside two others and himself for releasing the payments to the contractor who had executed maintenance work in the Cantonment Board area.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe.
Searches in the office and residential premises of the accused persons have led to the recovery of incriminating documents relating to the case.
The arrested accused was produced today before the Special Judge, Court No.-IV, Lucknow (U.P) and remanded to Judicial Custody till May 22, 2015.
