Panna, Madhya Pradeh, Central India: About 50 passengers were killed and another 15 injured when a private bus went out of control and fell off a culvert into a nullah and went up in flames near Pandav falls in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh in Central India on Monday.
The bus was on the Satna – Chhatarpur route. several bodies, completely burnt, were pulled out of the charred bus and the injured were immediately rushed to hospital.
A magisterial probe has been ordered into this accident. State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed profound grief and announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs. 200,000 each for next of the kin of the deceased, Rs. 50,000 assistance to the seriously injured and Rs. 25,000 each to other injured persons.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed grief over the incident. “News of the bus accident in Panna, MP is extremely saddening. Condolences to families of the deceased. I wish the injured a speedy recovery”, the Prime Minister said.
