New Delhi: The Special Judge, CBI Cases at Panchkula in Haryana has convicted Naresh Pal Singh, ex-Sub Divisional Engineer(Civil) with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), who was posted at Faridabad, in a bribery case.
This case registered on December 15, 2008 under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegation that while posted as SDE (Civil), BSNL, Faridabad, Naresh pal had demanded an illegal gratification of Rs. 50,000 from the complainant (a Contractor with BSNL, Faridabad) for passing his bills. CBI laid a trap at his office in Faridabad and caught the accused red handed while he was demanding and accepting the bribe. The charge sheet was filed on April 10, 2009. After the hearing that stretched over six years, the trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
CBI lays trap arrests Western Railway engineer
In a latest development, the CBI has arrested a Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer(Power) of Western Railway posted in Mumbai Central for accepting a bribe of Rs. 100,000 from a complainant.
CBI has registered a case on a complaint against the accused officer of Western Railways for demanding a bribe of Rs.300,000 from the complainant for awarding of contract. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while accepting Rs. 100,000 as bribe from the complainant.
Searches were conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused person, who was produced at the Designated Court at Mumbai and was granted one day police custody on April 22.
