New Delhi: With the arrest of a proclaimed offender, Prince Tewatia (23), resident of Rohini in the capital, the Delhi Police has solved the sensational case of attempt to murder of a struggling model, who was shot at on the intervening night of April 17 and 18. The accused was also wanted in three cases of Attempt to murder and Hurt of South-East District and another case of South District. His associate Jeetesh Pandey (24), also a resident of Rohini has been arrested. One .32 bore Pistol with a live cartridge and a car which was used in a case of Ambedkar Nagar police station have been recovered from their possession.
On April 18, Pardeep Mishra, a resident of Hari Nagar at Ashram in Delhi reported that his daughter Nehaa (21) had got married to one Prince Tewatia without his knowledge. On April 16, Prince came to his house at about 10 pm and remained with Neha for the next two days. On the intervening night of April 17 and 18, after dinner, his daughter Neha and her husband Prince went to their room. At about 1.30 am, he woke up when Prince loudly knocked the door of his room. Prince told him that he had shot his daughter Neha and fled away from the spot. When the complainant entered Neha’s room, he found that she was lying on her bed unconscious. She was immediately rushed to hospital in an auto-rickshaw.
The Police began investigation after a case (FIR No. 252/15) under Sections 307 IPC and 25/27 of the Arms Act was registered at Sunlight Colony police station. The police found that the mobile phone of Prince was switched off. On reaching Prince’s address at Dakshin Puri in Delhi, the Police gathered that he was not residing there. The fact also came to light that he was wanted in other heinous offences committed in the Ambedkar Nagar and Malviya Nagar police station areas. The present case was cracked by a joint team led by Inspector Naresh Kumar I/C Spl. Staff/SED comprising of Inspector O.P. Lekhwal SHO/Sunlight Colony, SI Lalit Kumar I/C PP Sarai Kale Khan, SI Sandeep Godara, SI A. K. Jha, SI Shailendra, HC Anil Kumar,Ct. Devender, Ct Praveen, Ct Bhojpal, Ct Deepak and Komal was constituted under the supervision of Anil Yadav ACP/NFC.
During investigation, sources were developed and it was learnt that Prince and his friend Jeetesh were wanted in a hurt-cum-firing case in the Ambedkar Nagar area and both Prince and Jeetesh were seen together on a number of occasions. Subsequently, with the help of secret information, it was found that Prince was living at Rohini Sector 7 with his friend Jeetesh and the registration number of a car Maruti Ritz being used by Jeetesh was also obtained. Technical surveillance was also mounted and a raid was conducted at Rohini Sector-7. After intense efforts, both Prince Tewatia and Jeetesh Pandey were apprehended while they were heading towards their house after leaving their car in the parking area. A .32 bore pistol with one live cartridge was recovered from the possession of Prince. The car was also seized.
During interrogation Prince revealed that he was born at Jalokari village in Aligarh district. His parents came to Delhi during his childhood and started living in Dakshin Puri, Delhi. His father was workingas as a gardner in government offices. He studied up to 12th class in a government school at Dakshin Puri and thereafter started working as a driver. He started a van service and began picking up passengers from Virat Cinema to Nehru place. One day, after he found that his father had been slapped by someone he procured a weapon and murdered that person. He was arrested in this case (FIRNo. 87/10 u/s 302 IPC of Ambedkar Nagar police station) and remained in the jail for four years and was released in 2014. After getting released, he decided to become a don and run a criminal syndicate. He told the police that he always kept pistol with him. He also revealed that his first three attempts to murder were to acquire a name and fame in the criminal world.
Accused Jeetesh Pandey disclosed that he was born at Nismali village in Almora district of Uttaranchal. Along with his family, he too came to Delhi during childhood and started living in Dakshan Puri. He studied up 10th standard in a government School and was forced to quit studies due to his family’s poor economic condition. He got into bad company and started snatching chains on stolen bikes. He was arrested in 2010 and released on bail but he continued committing crime. He was arrested again in 2013 and remained in judicial custody for 22 months. During trial of cases in jail, he came in contact with Prince, who was also in jail in connection with a murder case. Jeetesh is also wanted in another case (FIR No. 372/15 U/S 323/341/336/506/34IPC and 25 Arms Act Ambedkar Nagar police station).
