Raipur (Central India): Maoist ambushed and killed seven policemen and wounded over a dozen others in the remote Sukma forests of the newly formed, southernmost Sukma district in South Bastar Region of Chhattisgarh on Saturday
The security personnel were on a beat march when they were ambushed by the Maoists, who are still called the naxalites by the local people.
According to reports a senior police officer in-charge of anti-naxalite operations has said that seven security forces have been killed and 10 others have been injured in the encounter that took place in Sukma region. Security and rescue operations have been adversely affected due to the terrain and bad weather another police officer said.
