Paris: France gets the order for 36 RAFALE – multi role combat aircraft ready to fly – as the first part of the mega contract for the Indian Air Force….as Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced during the joint press conference with the French President François Hollande today.
The decision on Rafale jets was sealed after a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Francois Hollande.
Discussions will continue for the transfer of technology which would permit India to build the aircraft on its own soil.. The French have their own conditions for such transfer of technology which India cannot accept, but things could evolve with the discussions.
The French have not buckled to the pressure of the Indians and the French manufacturer – Dassault – that also has a say in the matter.
As Modi tries to win over hesitant French manufacturers to MAKE IN INDIA, other civilian contracts could also be signed during his first visit to France.
New Delhi: Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, the biggest enemy of India against whom India had provided clinching evidence to Pakistan pointing that he was the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attack in 2008, has been released by an order of the Pakistan High Court today.
Lakhvi’s release on bail comes on a day when India’s Prime Minister was in France in the first leg of his 3-nation tour. India has registered a strong protest and Modi has described it as a sad day.
Lakhvi was granted bail last December but had been kept uder detention under a special provisions of law relating to public order. His trial will still continue along with half dozen suspects accused of playing a role in the Mumbai attack.
Pakistan’s Lashkar-e-Taiba group (LeT), headed by Lakhvi, was behind the Mumbai attack, Indian Government has alleged and provided evidence in this regard to Pakistan. Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Ahency (FIA) stated in the charge sheet filed in the Mumbai blast case that Lakhvi had given training to those involved in the Mumbai attack. He had also arranged weapons and ammunition for this purpose. Ajmal Kasab, the lone Mumbai blast terrorist caught by the Police who was hanged in November 2012, had also confessed that he had been recruited by Lakhvi and Hafiz Saeed of Jamaat-ud-Dawa. More evidence was provide against him by David Coleman Headley, the American convicted terrorist of Pakistani origin, and a spy who conspired with the Lashkar-e-Taiba Islamist organization in plotting the 2008 Mumbai attacks. There is also evidence to prove that Lakhvi was giving instruction to terrorists involved in the Mumbai attack from the LeT control room.
