CBI arrests FCI Area Manager for accepting bribe
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Area Manager and an Assistant, both working in Food Corporation of India (FCI) at Nabha in Punjab, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 from a rice miller.
A case was registered under Section 120-B of IPC and Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on a complaint alleging that 70 truckload of consignment of rice of the complainant rice miller were to be checked and stacked at the FCI Depot at Nabha. Th complaint was that the Area Manager of FCI at Nabha was demanding a bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant for getting his rice checked and stacked in the Depot.
CBI laid a trap and the Area Manager and an Assistant (Grade-I) were caught red handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant. Searches have been conducted at the residential premises of the accused,who will be produced in the Competent Court at Patiala on Tuesday.
