Gang of carjackers arrested by Delhi Police
- Accused were apprehended at 212 Bus Stand at Nand Nagri in Delhi in an Accent Car
- They were having loaded country made pistols and also a sharp edged weapon
- The apprehended persons are in the 21-24 age group
- One Khaki color jacket, one hand blinker and a military color lower was also recovered from inside the Accent Car
- With their arrest 6 robbery cases in Delhi and NCR have been solved
New Delhi: Three persons allegedly involved in several carjacking and robbery incidents – Ajimuddin (24 years), Jatin Arora (21 yrs) and Dharmender@ Dharam (22 yrs) have been arrested by the Nand Nagri Police of North East District here.
Acting on a tipoff, a police team reached 212 Bus Stand and barricaded the road. At the police picket three suspects in a Silver-Brown Color Hyundai Accent Car (registration No. DL-1CG-6659) were stopped. When the car was told to stop, the driver of the vehicle got down and taking out a knife threatened sub-inspector Anand Prakash to leave them alone. But the police team pounced on them and apprehended three persons. The Policemen conducted a physical search recovered from their possession a loaded country made pistol (315 bore), one loaded country made pistol (12 bore) with an extra live cartridge and a knife. On sustained interrogation,apprehended accused admitted committing several robberies. When their car was searched, a Khaki Jacket, one Hand Blinker Light and a pair of trousers (military color) were recovered.
An FIR under sections 260/15u/s 25/27 of the Arms Act has been registered at Police station Nand Nagri againstthe 3 accused persons.
During interrogation, all the accused persons disclosed that they belong to poor families and were committimng crimes to fulfill their desires. They came incontact of Amir, Aneesh and Sonu. They disclosed that they were oepating as a gang in Delhi and NCR. The gang used to target lone drivers or car owners at secluded places. They used to impersonate as cops wearing Khaki color jacket, military color pants and showing hand blinkers to the cars. One of them used to wear police jacket-pants and signal the targeted vehicles to stop for checking. Thereafter, they would ask the drivers to produce their driving licence and registration cards. In the mean while other gang members would overpower their victim and drag him to the back seat of the car at gunpoint. One of them would drive the car while the other members would rob the victim. They would also pressurize the victim to withdraw cash from his account through ATM and after robbing the cash, they would dessert the victim at some isolated place. They revealed that they were carjacking in Delhi and NCR and disposing the vehicles at Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh
Those arrested were put to sustained interrogation. During interrogation, it was found that Ajimuddin was involved in about 25 criminal cases in Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad.
