New Delhi: Super cyclone Pam blew over Vanuatu islands in the Pacific archipelago late Friday bearing on populated areas. The storm swept through populated areas at a devastating 270 plus kilometer/hour speed. The storm could have turned more devastating had it not turned westward.
The United Nations Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs office reported unconfirmed deaths in Vanuatu’s northeastern islands after the Category 5 Cyclone drifted from its projected trajectory.
The cyclone was advancing towards Efate and capital Port Vila when reports last came in at wind speeds of 250 kph to 270 kph.
