New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi today led a solidarity march in support of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the capital.
A special designated court on Wednesday took cognisance under Sections 120 (B), 409 of IPC and under provisions of the prevention of Corruption Act and issued summons to the former Prime Minister, along with industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla, former Union Coal secretary P.C. Parekh and 3 others in the coal scam case.
Ms.Gandhi told journalists: “We are here to offer our support and solidarity. We are fully behind him (Manmohan singh). We will fight the matter legally and we are sure he will be vindicated.”
Reacting to the solidarity march Singh said: “I am more than pleased that Soniaji and AICC members came to show their solidarity.”
In otehr parts of the country also Congressmen are protesting. In Uttar Pradesh they blocked train movement to lodge their protest against the CBI court summons to the former prime minister.
It is not Dr Manmohan Singh’s integrity but his inaction that is being questioned, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu today said adding the government is not misusing the investigating agency. Congress will have to explain to the country how all this happened, he stated.
