PM accepts R.K. Pachauri’s resignation from PM’s Council on Climate Change

New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has accepted the resignation of Dr. R.K. Pachauri from the PM`s Council on Climate Change.

A 29-year-old researcher with The Energy Resources Institute (TERI) has accused Dr Pachauri (75), of sexual harassment. The complainant says that she was being harrassed by Pachouri right since the day she joined TERI in 2013.

Last week a Delhi court granted relief to Pachouri by staying his arrest in the sexual harrassment case til March 27.

In the wake of the allegation and the Police case against him, Pachouri was earlier forced to quit as Chairman of United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), US Vice President Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, represented by its chairman, R. K. Pachauri, were honored with the Nobel Peace Prize of 2007, in December 2007.
