Police registers FIR against Digvijay, former MP Assembly Speaker, 17 others
Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Assembly Secretariat last night filed an FIR–First Information Report – against AICC General Secretary and ex-chief minister Digvijay Singh, former Assembly Speaker Sriniwas Tiwari and 17 others accusing them of alleged irregularities in recruitment during Singh’s tenure as state chief minister between 1993 and 2003.
Bhopal’s Jehangirabad Police station Town Inspector BS Chouhan has confirmed that the FIR was lodged on a complaint filed by the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat and the matter will now be investigated.
Earlier this week, Digvijay Congress general secretary submitted a sealed envelope with a pen drive containing a spread sheet as part of recovery from an MS-Excel file to the Special Investigation team (SIT) monitoring the investigation into the Madhya Pradesh Professional examination Board (PEB) scam linked with recruitment of government staff and medical entrance examination. Singh also provided to the SIT certain phone and mobile numbers of the accused persons for detailed analysis and alleged that the present state Chief Minister and his office were in direct touch with these numbers to facilitate illegal admissions and recruitment through PEB. Both Delhi High Court and Jabalpur High Court are seized of the PEB scam case
